BRAZZAVILLE — The Republic of the Congo is stepping up efforts to modernize its digital economy after approving a CFA21.87 billion ($39.3 million) program for digital transformation in 2026.
The investment under the country’s Digital Transformation Acceleration Project (PATN) is designed to continue expanding high-speed internet connectivity while accelerating the digitisation of government services.
The program also includes plans to train 1,200 young people in digital skills, creating a stronger pool of technology talent as the country expands its digital infrastructure.
A key priority is improving connectivity beyond major urban centres. Earlier PATN work included the deployment of broadband connectivity sites in rural communities, with the government seeking to reduce the country’s digital divide and provide wider access to online education, e-government and digital commerce.
The latest funding signals that digital infrastructure is becoming a major development priority for Brazzaville, with technology increasingly linked to public administration, education, employment and economic activity.
Officials and development partners are expected to continue focusing on infrastructure, digital skills and the expansion of online public services as the Republic of the Congo advances its broader digital transformation agenda.
