Patients in Northern Hhohho are set to gain easier access to ultrasound diagnostic services following the donation of a new ultrasound machine to Piggs Peak Government Hospital.

The equipment was donated by Lomati Mine as Eswatini's Ministry of Health continues efforts to decentralise specialised diagnostic services and bring medical equipment closer to communities.

Health Minister Mduduzi Matsebula said the donation supports the ministry's objective of strengthening diagnostic capacity at health facilities and is expected to benefit patients in the Northern Hhohho region.

The new equipment could help patients access ultrasound examinations closer to home, potentially reducing the need for some residents to travel to referral hospitals for diagnostic services.

The development highlights Eswatini's continuing push to expand diagnostic healthcare beyond major referral centres and improve access to specialised services in more communities.
