MARADI, Niger — Health authorities and Médecins Sans Frontières are intensifying community engagement in Madarounfa, in Niger’s Maradi Region, through an open-day initiative highlighting the organisation’s healthcare activities.

The second phase of the initiative was held on October 3, 2026, under the supervision of the Regional Director of Public Health and Hygiene, Dr Moussa Idi. Local administrative, municipal, health and community representatives also attended.

The programme included exhibition stands and guided visits designed to help residents better understand how MSF-supported health services operate across the district.

Health workers including doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, logisticians and community workers were presented as key parts of the programme.

Organisers said the initiative is intended to strengthen communication between healthcare teams and the populations they serve, particularly communities that may have limited visibility into the work carried out inside health facilities.

The activity also gives local officials and residents an opportunity to learn more about the services delivered through health centres in the Madarounfa area.

The outreach reflects a wider effort to bring healthcare providers closer to communities while improving understanding of available medical services in one of Maradi Region’s health districts.
