LIBREVILLE — Gabon has launched the sixth edition of Ciné Vacances, a public cultural initiative bringing free film screenings and cinema activities to outdoor spaces across Libreville.

The programme opened on July 20 at the gardens of Libreville City Hall, creating a public platform where residents can enjoy cinema and cultural programming outside traditional theatres.

Organisers say the initiative is designed to make culture more accessible while strengthening the role of cinema as a tool for social connection. The programme also provides an opportunity to promote local creative work and encourage wider public engagement with film and visual storytelling.

The initiative comes as Gabon continues efforts to strengthen its cultural and creative industries, with cinema increasingly viewed as an important platform for artistic expression, youth engagement, and cultural identity.

Ciné Vacances 2026 is turning public spaces into cultural venues and giving more residents the opportunity to experience cinema as an accessible part of everyday community life.
