Jumia Secures $50 Million Funding Boost as African E-Commerce Expands
ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire — Africa’s e-commerce sector has received a fresh investment boost after Jumia secured $50 million in new equity financing, with the International Finance Corporation providing $25 million.
The funding is expected to strengthen Jumia’s marketplace, logistics network and digital commerce operations across its African markets. The company has a significant presence in Côte d’Ivoire, connecting consumers with thousands of sellers through its online platform.
The investment could create additional opportunities for Ivorian businesses and online retailers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises seeking access to wider customer markets without building their own distribution networks.
Jumia reported that its second-quarter revenue rose 14% year-on-year to $52 million, while gross merchandise value increased 20% to $216.3 million. Orders also grew 28% during the period.
The company is targeting adjusted EBITDA break-even in the fourth quarter of 2026, as it focuses on improving efficiency and profitability.
For Côte d’Ivoire, the development highlights the growing importance of digital commerce, logistics and online marketplaces to the country’s private-sector economy.
