OUAGADOUGOU — Burkina Faso has launched a new network of National AI Innovation Labs aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence research, digital entrepreneurship, and technology-driven economic growth.

The initiative connects universities, innovation centres, software developers, and startup founders to develop AI-powered solutions that address challenges in agriculture, healthcare, education, financial services, and public administration.

Technology experts say artificial intelligence is becoming an important catalyst for digital transformation across Africa. The innovation labs are expected to support research, product development, cloud computing adoption, and cybersecurity while helping young entrepreneurs transform ideas into scalable technology businesses.

The programme also includes advanced training in machine learning, robotics, cloud architecture, software engineering, and data science, creating opportunities for students and professionals to acquire globally competitive digital skills.

Government and private-sector partners believe the initiative will strengthen Burkina Faso's innovation ecosystem, attract technology investment, and encourage collaboration between researchers, businesses, and international technology partners.

The AI Innovation Labs represent an important milestone in Burkina Faso's ambition to build a resilient digital economy powered by research, innovation, and skilled technology professionals.
