MBABANE — Eswatini is accelerating implementation of the Digital Eswatini Project as the government moves to transform public services through digital platforms and citizen-focused technology.
Recent implementation and change-management activities are bringing government institutions together to prepare for wider adoption of digital systems, with the programme focused on making public services easier to access and more efficient.
The technology push places citizens at the centre of digital government, with the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology highlighting the importance of accessible platforms, responsible artificial intelligence, and digital public infrastructure.
Officials have also promoted the Government in Your Hand vision, which seeks to allow citizens to access essential government services digitally rather than relying entirely on physical government offices. The strategy includes attention to rural and underserved communities and the use of voice and local-language interfaces to reduce the digital divide.
The government is also exploring opportunities created by AI and cloud technologies, while strengthening partnerships with international technology companies and digital infrastructure leaders.
The Digital Eswatini Project could become one of the Kingdom’s most significant technology programmes, potentially changing how citizens interact with government and creating new demand for cybersecurity, software development, cloud services, and digital skills.
