Zambia’s Southern Province has recorded 257 anthrax-positive cases in cattle from more than 33,000 animals tested in camps across the region, according to a report published on September 21.
The findings underline the importance of coordinated animal-health and public-health monitoring, as anthrax is a disease that can affect both livestock and people. The report cited Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Director Charles Chabala in connection with the testing update.
Authorities and communities are being reminded to take livestock disease alerts seriously and follow official veterinary and health guidance. Further details on the affected areas and response measures should be confirmed through relevant government updates.
